La liao is also known as water pepper. The acrid, warm and toxic herb has been used in TCM to treat dysentery, diarrhea, digestive inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, vaginal bleeding, etc., as itcalms pain, gets rid of dampness, toxin and swelling and parasites , disperses blood stasis, etc., by enhancing the functions of spleen and large intestine channels
